| Duties and Responsibilities: The instructor of Spanish is primarily responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of classroom and laboratory instruction, and for providing those related services and support activities required for optimal student learning and effective educational programming. As a member of the university transfer department faculty, the instructor is also accountable for assisting and supporting the department head, as needed, in meeting the instructional and curricular requirements of the department and division. More specifically, and consistent with the employee's current contract of appointment, the instructor is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: (1) Teaching all assigned courses for the full duration of scheduled instruction including an academic success class and/or interdisciplinary humanities capstone course as needed; (2) Being fully prepared with instructional plans for each class session and in accord with the stated objectives of the course; (3) Enforcing academic policy and procedures at all times, and complying with all other institutional rules and regulations pertinent to classroom instruction and general employment; (4) Being available out of class to students requiring additional assistance; (5) Serving as educational advisor to students, as formally required and as otherwise requested or needed by individual students; (6) Assisting in the revision and development of course outlines, syllabi, curriculum plans, and other instructional documentation required to meet program objectives; (7) Contributing to the development and implementation of competency-based education and for utilizing available educational resources for the improvement of instruction and the creation of teaching materials; (8) Assisting the discipline Chair in the identification, preview and acquisition of needed educational resources, including textbook selection, library materials, laboratory supplies and other instructional provisions; (9) Participating in semester registration activities, as assigned, and assisting in the recruitment of students; (10) Participating in program, departmental, divisional and institutional meetings and other announced activities; (11) Maintaining complete office and student records, as needed; processing reports, forms, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner, checking for the accuracy, correctness and completeness of all data; (12) Fulfilling committee assignments and other special appointments within the educational community as well as the community-at-large, and otherwise giving appropriate support to institutional endeavors, (13) Maintaining posted office and on-campus hours sufficient to fulfill all contracted duties and individual professional obligations, as well as to meet the needs of the program, department, division and college; (14) Taking advantage of in-service training and other opportunities for continued professional development, including attendance at off-campus activities, as feasible, and generally staying abreast of developments in the field of instruction; (15) Maintaining proper communication and supportive relations at all times with all other units and branches of the division and the college, providing assistance to them in carrying out their respective functions; (16) Assuming other necessary responsibilities and performing additional tasks as assigned by the Dean and Dept. Head of ASUT, Vice President and Chief Instructional Officer and Student Services Officer and/or President in meeting the needs of the College. Required Minimum Qualifications: (1) A master's degree in Spanish or a master's degree with at least eighteen semester hours at the graduate level in Spanish. (2) Successful teaching of at least three courses in a community/technical college or university. (3) Evidence of some residence in a Spanish-speaking country and familiarity with the different cultures and linguistic variations of the Hispanic world. (4) Native or near native proficiency. (5) Familiarity with instructional technologies, language labs, and distance learning (6) A thorough understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of the North Carolina Community College System. (7) Competence in oral and written communication skills necessary for effective teaching. (8) Sensitivity to the needs and expectations of students, colleagues, and community groups. | University of Oxford - Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, Centre for the Study of the Cantigas de Santa Maria The faculty seeks to recruit a part-time (50%) Research Assistant from 1 October 2010 to work on a new critical edition of the Cantigas de Santa Maria and a Handbook of CSM Studies, under the direction of Dr Stephen Parkinson (Principal Investigator). This is part of a range of projects on the Cantigas de Santa Maria, the collection of poems in praise of the Virgin Mary composed and collected at the court of King Alfonso X of Castile, in the Centre for the Study of the Cantigas de Santa Maria, which is devoted to work on this collection. The Research Assistant will be responsible for the groundwork for and physical preparation of the critical edition, including a print anthology, and the Handbook. The Research Assistant will also participate in the general work of the centre, including responding to enquiries, organizing seminars, attending meetings (in Oxford and Lisbon) with the Portuguese partner project, and assisting with the further development of the Cantigas de Santa Maria database. The Research Assistant will have access to workspace and IT equipment in the Centre for the Study of the Cantigas de Santa Maria, and will be required to attend regular meetings with the Project Investigator, but will otherwise not be required to work in Oxford. Candidates should have: - a higher degree (MA or PhD) in a relevant branch of Medieval Hispanic Studies - experience in manuscript transcription and critical editing - knowledge of Galician-Portuguese language and literature - good IT skills - experience of using online databases - good editorial skills and attention to detail - good command of written and spoken English This is a fixed-term post tenable for a period of not more than two years. Die zukünftige Stelleninhaberin/der zukünftige Stelleninhaber soll das Fach der iberoromanistischen Kulturwissenschaft schwerpunktmäßig im Bereich von Moderne und Gegenwart Lateinamerikas in Forschung und Lehre vertreten und sich an den Studiengängen im Bereich B.A., M.A., M.Ed. (Lehramtsausbildung) beteiligen. Darüberhinaus wird erwartet, dass die zukünftige Stelleninhaberin/der zukünftige Stelleninhaber sich in angemessenem Umfang und regelmäßig in Forschung und Lehre der Kulturwissenschaft anderer Epochen sowie der europäischen Iberoromania einbringt. | The Faculty of Humanities Invites Applications from outstanding candidates (Ph.D required, postdoctoral training highly desirable) Tenure-track and tenured positions for appointment beginning in the Academic year of 2011/2012. In the following fields: English; Linguistics; Western History; Jewish History; Yiddish; Ancient Near East; Romance and Latin American Studies; Hebrew Literature Rank will be determined according to the qualifications of the candidate Appointments will begin on October 1st, 2011 Responsibilities include teaching required and elective courses in candidate?s field(s) of specialization and related disciplines. The language of instruction is Hebrew. Successful candidates are expected to conduct independent and original research at the highest academic level, demonstrate academic leadership, apply for Israeli and international research grants, and cooperate with other researchers within the Faculty and other faculties. Candidates are requested to apply in writing to Professor Israel Bartal, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Applicants should provide: (1) Cover letter (2) Confirmation of receipt of degree (3) Curriculum Vitae (Please use ?
